Lost Abbey Track #8
Number of the Beast
Aged in American Oak Bourbon Barrels
13.7% ABV
This beer seems to include every flavor possible -- but the raisin flavor is certainly forward and powerful. Reviews on other sites indicate that there are a lot of fans of this beer. But for me, it's a bit too much flavor without any balance. I feel a bit like I'm eating cheap candy rather than expensive beer.
I guess if I had it my way, I don't need cinnamon and raisins and vanilla and chili peppers in my beer. I just want a good, true-to-style beer. The Lost Abbey site compares this beer to an oatmeal raisin cookie. That might be the problem. Give me chocolate chip or snickerdoodle or sugar cookie any day. But I"m just not a fan of the oatmeal raisin.
