La Fin Du Monde

Tonight:
La Fin Du Monde
Unibroue (Quebec)
9.0% ABV

Full-disclosure: I'm reading this beer through the come-from-behind win by the Green Bay Packers in Detroit tonight. The Packers trailed 17-0 at the end of the first quarter, but came back to win it 27-23 on a hail mary pass with no time left on the clock. There's nothing more exhilarating than a come-from-behind, last-minute win.

But: I cannot just rave about football tonight. I need to talk about beer.

La Fin Du Monde is a good beer. It's a tripel brewed in Quebec. It's sweet in the way tripels are sweet, but it's not cloyingly sweet in the way some of the previous beers have been. As far as tripels go, the Fin Du Monde is a perfectly lovely beer. It would be an excellent beer to introduction for someone unfamiliar with the style. But I have to confess I have a preference for tripels brewed in Belgium, especially those brewed by Trappist monks.

Tomorrow: Trappistes Rochefort 6

  1. Leffe Blonde
  2. Big Butte Porter
  3. La Fin Du Monde
