Chimay Premiere
aka Chimay Red
7% ABV
The Chimay Premiere is a another Belgian Dubbel, brewed by Trappist monks in Belgium. If you're new to the Trappist beers, Chimay is a good place to start. Like Leffe, I find the Chimay beers both delicious and approachable. Plus, there's something about knowing the beer your drinking was brewed in an Abbey and that the proceeds from sales support the monastery and social assistance (per Chimay's website). This last bit is a requirement in order to be able to use the Trappist label. Wikipedia has a pretty good explanation of Trappist breweries, if you'd like to learn more about them.
